William H. Spence PPL Susquehanna, LLC President and Chief Nuclear Officer 769 Salem Boulevard Berwick, PA 18603 Tel. 610.774.3683 Fax 610.774.5019 Whspence@pplweb.com May 8, 2009 Mr. Samuel J. Collins Regional Administrator, Region I U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 475 Allendale Road King of Prussia, PA 19406-1415 SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION WORK ENVIRONMENT MEETING Docket Nos. 50-387 PLA-6512 and 50-388 By letter dated January 28, 2009, NRC identified that they will review the PPL response to the January 28 letter and determine the need for a meeting to discuss our approach and schedule. PPL provided two responses dated February 27 and March 13, 2009. These responses describe the PPL plans to address the work environment issues, our plans to evaluate the health of the work environment, and the metrics we will use to monitor the effectiveness of our actions.

The purpose of this letter is to propose that the meeting be held at the Susquehanna Energy Information Center, located at 634 Salem Boulevard, Berwick, Pennsylvania, on July 6, 2009.

This date will enable PPL to integrate the new chief nuclear officer into our organization prior to this meeting and will allow time to integrate the root-cause analysis and assessments of our improvement efforts into an updated work environment improvement plan. This date will also provide time to communicate to the SSES workforce the results of the root cause, results of the assessments, and contents of the updated work environment improvement plan prior to the meeting.

PPL is committed to ensuring that Susquehanna is a high performing organization with a healthy safety culture that includes a strong safety conscious work environment. Active day-to-day leadership, monitoring, and support of the Susquehanna workforce along with implementation of the work environment improvement plan will enable Susquehanna to improve our healthy nuclear safety culture to include a strong safety conscious work environment.
