1 MAJOR CHANGES 'IO RADIOACTIVE h%STE TREA7MEtfI' SYSTDdS In May 1987, the installation of a Low Specific Activity (ISA) Trash l Shredder /Cmpactor and associated Fire Protection equip'ent was empleted.
The purpose of the shredder /ccmpactor is to reduce the volune of ISA dry radwaste (e.g., booties, gloves, rags, paper, etc) by shredding the materials and then campacting the trash in steel containers. In order to perform this function the campactor and shredder are of considerable mass and generate considerable forces during the shredding and cmpacting modes of operation.
The equiptent is designed so that the operator will not cme in contact with l any c mpactor or shredder camponents that may cause bodily harm. Interlocks are designed into the system so that tampering with any force-generating camponents, capable of inflicting lxxiily harm, will shut the system down or prevent the system frm starting. The LSA shredder and cmpactor will be installed in the Radwaste Building. The equiprent and process does not interact with or cane into contact with any equignent or system related to safety.
The installation of the LSA Trash Shredder /Canpactor, for volume reduction and campaction of dry, low specific activity radwaste, poses no threat of accident, increased radiation exposure or malfunction of itself, critical plant equipmel.t related to safety, other liquid gaseous or solid radwaste processing equignent nor of any different type than any evaluated previously in the FSAR.
Safety Evaluation 86-7020 was prepared which analyzed this modification. It was reviewed and found to be acceptable by the PORC on July 10, 1986.

Continued Recirculation pump by bypassing the urdervoltage trip. At 1547, the undervoltage trip was restored after Electrical Test personnel adjusted the voltage regulator. Limiting Condition for Operation 3.4.1.1,2 was cleared at 1550 hours0.0179 days <br />0.431 hours <br />0.00256 weeks <br />5.89775e-4 months <br />.
On June 12,1987, at 0951 tours, the "A" Recirculation punp tripped again due to generator field undervoltage. Reactor power dropped from 84% to 62% of rated capacity.
The punp was restarted at 1415 leurs with the urdervoltage trip bypassed. At 1443 hours0.0167 days <br />0.401 hours <br />0.00239 weeks <br />5.490615e-4 months <br />, Maintenance personnel regtested operations personnel to trip the "A" Recirculation pump due to voltage regulation problems. The "A" Recirculation punp was restarted at 1648 hours0.0191 days <br />0.458 hours <br />0.00272 weeks <br />6.27064e-4 months <br /> after nnintenance personnel repaired the voltage regulator.
At 1822 hours0.0211 days <br />0.506 hours <br />0.00301 weeks <br />6.93271e-4 months <br /> on June 12, 1987, a control rod sequence exchange conmenced. Reactor power was restored to 100% rated capacity at 0630 leurs on June 14, 1987, following the sequence exchange and the pre-conditioning ramp.
