STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S EVALUATION OF NRCS MANAGEMENT OF GOVERNMENT CELL PHONES (OIG-17-A-27)

REFERENCE:

DIRECTOR OF OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATION, MEMORANDUM DATED MARCH 7, 2019 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendation 3 as discussed in the agencys response dated March 7, 2019. Based on this response, recommendation 3 is now closed. Recommendations 1, 2 and 4 were previously closed. All recommendations to this report are now closed.

Audit Report EVALUATION OF NRCS MANAGEMENT OF GOVERNMENT CELL PHONES OIG-17-A-27 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 3:

Review SPMS and MaaS360 and account for all Government furnished cell phones annually.

Agency Response Dated March 7, 2019:

As of December 11, 2018, all cell phones were removed from the SPMS and are no longer tracked by the Office of Administration. Effective December 12, 2018, cell phones are captured in a system of records by the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The Management Directive (MD) 13.1, Property Management, has been updated removing all cell phones from the equipment list.

Target Completion Date: Completed OIG Analysis:

OIG verified that MD 13.1 reflected the removal of all cell phones from SPMS and are no longer tracked by the Office of Administration. OIG also inquired with OCIO regarding the current status of tracking cell phones. OCIO provided Mobility Operations Standard Operating Procedure (SOP),

Issuing and Receiving Loaner or Permanent GFE Devices and Maintaining Inventory Control, dated February 15, 2019.

The SOP states the mobility team will track and validate cell phones on a weekly basis using the MaaS360 web console, Remedy, and the AT&T business portal.

Status:

Closed.
