Dear D'r. Ponomarev-Stepnoy:
- During the June 1990 JCCCNRS meetings in Moscow, certain agreements for continuing cooperation tiere documented in the Memorandum of Meeting for Working Group 3 Radiation Embrittlement of the Housing and Support Structures, and Annealing of'the Housing.
I refer.in particular to the Proposed Activities for Cooperation, Working Group 3, as follows:
9.
-Thermal Mixing Models - Blind test evaluations will be performed of thermal mixing models. The U.S. will provide the-Purdue, CREARE 1/2 scale rodel, and HDR benchmarks for USSR analysis, and the USSR will provide their full-scale VVER thermal mixing test for U.S.
. analysis.
Results _will be exchanged at the next annual meeting.
L The U.S.. data has now been incorporated into a report NUREG/CR-5677 "A Unified Interpretation of One-Fifth to Full Scale Thermal Mixing Experiments Related L
to Pressurized Thermal-Shock" by T. G. Theofanous and H Yan of the University
- of California at' Santa' Barbara, A copy of this report for Dr. A. Amaev, Soviet co-leader of Working Group 3, is attached. We look forward to receipt of your full-scale VVER thermal mixing data, and to the exchange of results
