On March 27, 1987, the staff issued BN 87-05 which transmitted a draft report prepared by Brookhaven National Laboratory regarding spent fuel pool accidents.
The notification stated that the final report was expected to be issued this summer and that we would inform you of further developments.
The final report has now been issued as NUREG/CR-4982, "Severe Accidents in Spent Fuel Pools in Support of Generic Issue 82." It is currently under review by the staff.
Copies of this notification are also being provided to the Licensing Boards for Diablo Canyon, Turkey Point, and Vermont Yankee for their information.
