,o ib A-I am forwarding for your review and coment the enclosed Draf t Generic Environmental Impact Statement on Uranium Milling (tiUREG-0511).
The Draf t Environmental Statement was prepared by fiRC staff in accordance with the statement of general policy and procedure on implementation of the !!ational Environmental Policy Act of 1959, as set out in the Comission's regulations, 10 CFR 51. The statement has been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency and the enclosed notice of its availability is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
Comments will be due within 90 days after publication in the Federal Register of the Environmental Protection Agency's listing notifying the public of issuance of the impact statement.
The staff plans to hold public meetings on the Draft Generic Environ-mental Impact Statement at several locations in the western milling regions. The meetings will be held after I; C issues proposed regulation changes which incorporate conclusions of the GEIS.
?!otice of the time and place of the public meetings will be published in the Federal Register.
