HCOBRA/ TRAC APPLICABILITY TO AP600 LARGE-BREAK LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENT, WCAP-14171, REVISION 1 l

REFERENCE:

Letter, R. C. Jones, Jr. (USNRC) to N. J. Liparulo (E), " Acceptance for l

Referencing of the Topical Report, WCAP-12945 (P), Westinghouse Code Qualification Document for Best-Estimate Loss-of-Coolant Analysis," June 28, l

1996 l

Dear Mr. Quay:

Enclosed is Revision I to Westinghouse Topical Report WCAP-14171, "ECOBRA/ TRAC Applicability to AP600 Large Break Loss of Coolant Accident." This revision superceeds Revision 0 of the report and incorporates changes as discussed during a March 15,1996 meeting between Westinghouse and NRC staff.

i This revision includes changes to the LBLOCA analysis methodology related to complying with the NRC approved LBLOCA methodology (Reference 1). New material provided in the report includes:

j Chapter 2 Revision and finalization of the LBLOCA Phenomena Identification and Ranking Table (PIRT). This revision incorporates NRC comments. This chapter also includes updated 3-loop plant and benchmark AP600 calculations using the approved EC/T code version.

i Chapter 3 This chapter presents revised simulations of CCTF test run 58 and UPTF test 21.

l l

Chapter 4 This chapter has been revised to describe the application of the approved best-estimate LBLOCA methodology (Reference 1) to AP600. Chapter 4 establishes the procedure to calculate peak clad temperature (PCT) at the 95th percentile, consistent with the approved methodology.
