"Democrats have fabricated a baseless conspiracy theory about the Postal Service and now they are asking American taxpayers to foot the bill for their fake crisis." - Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer, August 19 2020 According to Merriam-Webster a conspiracy theory is a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators.

The best example of a real conspiracy theory is QAnon. It is not supported by any facts; it alleges that there are thousands of conspirators; and the scope of the alleged plot keeps changing and expanding.

The plot to damage and discredit USPS is not secret. President Trump has been attacking USPS for years, most recently about mail-in voting. In fact he stated that he would hold up funding for USPS specifically to prevent universal mail-in voting.

Also it is supported by many facts. These include leaked memos documenting procedural changes, statements by postal workers and photos of decommissioned sorting machines and piles of removed letter boxes. DeJoy himself testified that his actions led to an "unanticipated" slow down of mail delivery.

So Comer's name can be added to the long list of GOP liars. Also DeJoy may have lied to the Senate, but I'll reserve judgment until he testifies before the House.
