Federal Register Notice: 73 FR 197--10/09/2008 Federal Register Notice: 73 FR 197-- 10/09/2008 Docket ID-2008-0482 and Docket ID-2008-0404 To whom it may concern:

The above extension of the Waste Confidence Decision of 1984 is totally unacceptable to me and I wish to indicate my opposition to the ruling.

I live within the 10 mile EPZone of Fermi 1,11and the proposed Ill. Waste is already being stored in casks on Lake Erie.

The life of Fermi II has already been extended beyond its supposed life-time and continues to produce toxic waste for which there is not safe, lifetime storage available.

Please stop building of all new nuclear power plants until a permanent storage site for waste or another way of dealing with the toxic waste is developed. It is unconscionable that the US government can allow more waste to be produced when it does not know what to do with it.

We were told in Monroe that the casks were good for 40 years! How can this timeline be safely extended? The NRC is risking the lives of the citizens of the surrounding area by this ruling.

Sincerely, Joan Mumaw 610 W Elm Monroe, Michigan 48162
