This letter serves as notification of intent by DTE Energy to submit a combined operating license (COL) application pursuant to the regulations in 10 CFR Part 52 during the fourth quarter of 2008.
On February 12, 2007 DTE Energy publicly announced plans to prepare an application for construction and operation of a new nuclear power plant in Newport, Michigan on the site of Detroit Edison's Fermi 2 Nuclear Plant. Current planning to support the application includes finalizing selection of a reactor technology in mid to late 2007 and submittal of a COL application during the fourth quarter of 2008.
A planning meeting with your staff will be arranged at a later date, when appropriate.
