I STATUS UPDATE COMPONENT COOLING WATER SYSTEM UPGRADES POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 The purpose of this letter is to provide an update on the status of l

the Component Cooling Water (CCW) issues at our Point Beach Nuclear Plant addressed in our the NRC staff dated June 1, 1994.

In the June 1, 1995, Wisconsin Electric stated that the following actions

1 were to be taken:

Final walkdowns of CCW small bore piping in the Unit 2 Containment Building were expected to be completed by October 30, 1994.

Design enhancement: for the support of CCW small bore piping in the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Containment Building were expected to be completed by November 7, 1995.

Design enhancements'for the support of CCW small bore piping in the Auxiliary Building. were also expected to be completed by November 7, 1995.

The NRC would be notified of the implementation schedule for CCW modifications associated with our resolution to Generic Letter 87-02, " Verification of Celsmic Adequacy of Mechanical and Electrical Equipment in Operating Reactors, Unresolved Safety Issue (USI)

Subsequent to our last correspondence, we have completed the Unit 2 Containment Building walkdowns.

We have also completed the installation of all pipe support design enhancements in the Unit 1 and Unit 2 Containment Buildings.

We expect to complete the pipe support design enhancements in the Auxiliary Building by April 1, 1996.

November 8, 1995 Page 2 In our June 30, 1995, submittal of the USI A-46 Seismic Evaluation Report response'to NRC Generic Letter 87-02, we identified anchorage outliers for the Unit 1 and Unit 2 CCW Surge Tanks.

The fixes for the anchorage outliers are the only modifications to the i

CCW piping system associated with the USI A-46 effort.

Resolution of the two outliers will be included as part of the Auxiliary Building design enhancement scope of work, and scheduled as such.
