- 1. The South Texas Project includes two 3853 MWtWestinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactors.
- 2. During 2003, Unit 1 completed its eleventh refueling outage, IREI 1. Outage IREI I was a refueling outage with inspection activities. Collective dose for this outage was 62.8 rem by electronic dosimetry. The following are baseline activities or activity groupings that contributed more than 1 rem during this outage.
- Refueling Activities 17.8 rem
- Reactor Coolant Pump 1B Motor Replacement 5.4 rem
- Motor Operated Valve Inspections and Repair 3.6 rem
- Reactor Coolant Pump Preventative Maintenance 2.1 rem
- In Service Inspections 1.8 rem
- Temporary Shielding 1.8 rem
- Flow Accelerated Corrosion Inspections 1.5 rem
- BMI Penetration Inspections and Walkdowns 1.3 rem
- Non-Intrusive Check Valve Testing 1.2 rem
- 3. Unit I also experienced forced outage IF0302 for repair of bottom mounted instrumentation for a total of 59.7 rem collective dose by electronic dosimetry. Baseline activities or activity groupings with more than 1 rem collective dose during this outage were:
- BMI Repair Penetrations 1 and 46 28.5 rem
- Refueling Activities (including Core Barrel Move) 7.3 rem
- BMI Penetration 31 Restoration 6.2 rem
- Power Range Detector Replacement 6.0 rem
- Nuclear Instrumentation Cable Inspections 1.8 rem
- Pressurizer Heater Repair 1.5 rem
- 4. Unit 2 experienced two forced outages during 2003, 2FO301 and 2F0302. Total collective dose for these two outages combined was 8.9 rem.
- 5. For 2003, three individuals exceeded one rem deep dose equivalent with the highest exposed individual (including contract personnel) receiving 1.260 rem by electronic dosimetry records. The highest exposed contract individual received 0.867 rem by electronic dosimetry records.
