Dear Sir or Madam:
In Reference 1, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) provided a revised integrated assessment for external flooding for Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS). Attachments 1 and 2 of the integrated assessment describe the site's response associated with installation and execution of the targeted hazard flood mitigation strategy for certain upstream system dam failure scenarios. The purpose of this correspondence is to docket NPPD's commitment to the following action:
NPPD will maintain a targeted hazard mitigation strategy for upstream system dam failure and subsequent flooding to preserve core cooling and spent fuel pool cooling.
This new regulatory commitment supersedes Commitments NLS2014052-01 and NLS2014052-02, made in Reference 2. These commitments were interim actions developed as required per, Requested Item 1.d, of Reference 3, to address higher re-evaluated flooding hazards until the integrated assessment for CNS was completed. Upon implementation of this new regulatory commitment, Commitments NLS2014052-01 and NLS2014052-02 will be closed.
