Conen (Chairman BWR Owners Group), dated September 25, 2006, "Final Safety Evaluation on Joint Owners' Group Program on Motor-Operated Valve Periodic Verification"

Dear Sir or Madam:

The purpose of this letter is to communicate a revision of a commitment made to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in Reference 1, by virtue of participation in the Joint Owners' Group (JOG) Program on Motor-Operated Valve (MOV) Periodic Verification.

In Reference 2, the NRC stated that the JOG proposed an implementation schedule of 6 years for its long-term periodic verification program following issuance of the final Safety Evaluation (SE). The NRC accepted this implementation schedule and stated that licensees are expected to notify the NRC of any deviations from the JOG Program, including the implementation schedule.

Nebraska Public Power District intends to resolve remaining JOG-related issues during Cooper Nuclear Station's (CNS) Refueling Outage 27 (RE27). RE27 is currently scheduled to commence on October 14, 2012, which is beyond the 6 year issuance of the SE. Therefore, CNS is extending our commitment to implement the JOG Program on MOV periodic verification to two months following completion of RE27 to allow for completion of the modifications and associated administrative tasks.
