Subject:

Notification of Readiness for Inspection of Traditional Enforcement Violations Trend Cooper Nuclear Station, Docket No. 50-298, DPR-46

Reference:

Letter from Kriss M. Kennedy, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, to Brian J.

O'Grady, Nebraska Public Power District, dated September 1, 2011, "Mid-cycle Performance Review and Inspection Plan - Cooper Nuclear Station"

Dear Sir or Madam:

The purpose of this letter is for Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of NPPD's readiness for the NRC to perform an inspection of the trend of Severity Level IV traditional enforcement violations issued for Cooper Nuclear Station.

In the Reference, it is stated that the NRC issued five Severity Level IV traditional enforcement violations in the same area (violations that may impact the ability of the NRC to perform its regulatory oversight function). As a result of those violations, the NRC would conduct Inspection Procedure 92723, "Follow Up Inspection for Three or More Severity Level IV Traditional Enforcement Violations in the Same Area in a 12-Month Period" after NPPD notified the NRC of its readiness for inspection.

NPPD has taken action to address the violations. As such, NPPD considers this trend in traditional enforcement violations ready for inspection.
