By letter dated November 26, 2012, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) provided a request for additional information (RAI) to Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) regarding a license amendment request (LAR) to revise the condensate storage tank (CST) level requirement specified in Technical Specification (TS) Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.7.6.1. The LAR was submitted to the NRC by letter dated August 20,2012 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML12234A743). The NRC requested SNC respond to these RAls within 30 days from the date of the NRC letter.

The SNC response is due to the NRC on December 26, 2012. Persuant to our phone call on December 6, 2012, SNC requested a 30 day extension to respond to the RAI regarding the LAR to revise the Farley CST level requirement specified in TS SR 3.7.6.1. A 30 day extension to respond to the RAI was approved during this phone call. Portions of the RAI require input from internal and external resources; therefore , additional time to thoroughly address the RAI is needed.

SNC will provide a response to the RAls within the requested additional 30 days (January 25,2013).

This letter contains no NRC commitments. If you have any questions, please contact Ken McElroy at (205) 992-7369.
