Farley Nuclear Plant - Unit 2 Notification of Change in the Emergency Resvonse Data System Ladies and Gentlemen:
In accordance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, VI.3.b, this letter serves as notification of hardware and software changes, "with the exception of data point modifications, that could affect the transmission format and computer communication protocol to the ERDS," and fulfills the requirement to report such changes at least 30 days prior to the modification.
This notification is due to the replacement of the Plant Process Computer, including a new operating system and software, which impacts the ERDS (Emergency Response Data System) function. The plant computer network will also be upgraded to current technology allowing greater bandwidth and potential for future expansion. The plant computer and corresponding network changes do not affect the Unit 1 ERDS function.
The Unit 2 installation is scheduled to begin January 30, 2007.
