SNC hereby submits the required 30-day response for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 1 and 2 pursuant to the requirements of Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Generic Letter 2006-0 1, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity and Associated Technical Specifications," issued to the Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) on January 20,2006. All addressees are requested to provide a response to the generic letter that contains either the information requested in Option 1 or Option 2. Following is SNC's response to Option 1.
Option 1: Within 30 days of the date of this GL, either c o n f m that you have submitted a request to modify the SG portion of your TS that is consistent with TSTF-449, Revision 4, or provide a regulatory commitment detailing your plans and schedule for submitting such a request (refer to Regulatory Issue Summary 2000-17, "Managing Regulatory Commitments Made by Power Reactor Licensees to the NRC Staff'). If you modify your commitment so that the request will not be submitted by May 3 1,2006, provide the information requested in Option 2 within 60 days of changing your commitment.
If your commitment is to submit a request after May 3 1,2006, provide the information requested in Option 2. If you or the NRC staff determine that your submittal is not consistent with TSTF-449, Revision 4, provide the information requested in Option 2 within 60 days of this determination.

Prior to the issuance of Generic Letter 2006-01, SNC submitted letter NL-05-1494 dated August 24,2005, to the NRC that contained regulatory commitments to the VEGP Steam Generator Tube Surveillance Program. One of the commitments in NL-05-1494 was to submit a proposed amendment to the VEGP TS to incorporate Technical Specification Task Force Traveler TSTF-449, Revision 4, "Steam Generator Tube Integrity" for VEGP Units 1 and 2 within six months of the date of the August 24,2005, letter (February 24,2006). After discussion with the NRC staff on February 7,2005, SNC is changing the commitment date to submit the proposed amendment to incorporate TSTF-449, Revision 4 to March 31, 2006.
Mr. D. E. Grissette states he is a Vice President of Southern Nuclear Operating Company, is authorized to execute this oath on behalf of Southern Nuclear Operating Company and to the best of his knowledge and belief, the facts set forth in this letter are true.
