Dear Dr.1Murley:
This letter is to inform you that, as previously-communicated with members of-your staff (Reference _1),.the merger of two IES Industries subsidiaries into'one corp Jation is imminent. ~The combination of Iowa Electric Light and-Power-Company"(IELP) and Iowa Southern Utilities Company (ISU) will;be effective January
'1 1, 1994. 'The resulting corporation'has been named IES Utilities
- Inc,
'l The merger will not result in any direct' changes to the q
management or operation of the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC),
as described in Chapter 6.0 of the DAEC Technical Specifications.
Ilowever, it will necessitate an amendment to'the DAEC Operating License and related documents to' reflect the revised utility.

This amendment request will be. submitted by March.31, 1994.
The names and organizations of other Operating-License No.
DPR-49 licensees, Central Iowa Power Cooperative and Corn Belt Power Cooperative, are unaffected by the IELP/ISU merger.
H The following new commitment.is made in this letter:
A request for revision of'the DAEC Operating License and Technical Specifications that reflects the merger will be submitted by March 31, 1994.
