SUMMARY

REPORT July 1, 2002 TO December 31, 2002 SYNOPSIS:

During this reporting period, Nuclear Management Company(NMC)/Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) conducted 205drug and alcohol tests in accordance with 10 CFR Part 26. There was not a refueling outage during this period. The break down for this period's testing activity is:

Random 181 / 0 Positive Pre-Access 23 / 0 Positive For-Cause 0 / 0 Positive Follow-Up 2 / 0 Positive Other 0 / 0 Positive Total 206 / 0 Positive The NMC/DAEC follows the guidelines for substances and cut-off levels as provided in 10 CFR Part 26, Appendix A. The random testing rate this period was 26.61% of the average population.

The total for all of 2002 was 50.97%.

MANAGEMENT ACTIONS TAKEN:

For the reporting period ending December 31, 2002 there were no positive drug or alcohol test requiring management actions.

EFFECTIVENESS EVALUATION:

NMC/DAEC continues to implement a Fitness for Duty Program that is effective in achieving the objectives of 10 CFR Part 26.
