The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission was created as an expert, technical agency to protect public health, safety, and security, and regulate the civilian use of nuclear materials, including enabling the deployment of nuclear power for the benefit of society. Among other responsibilities, the agency issues licenses, conducts inspections, initiates and enforces regulations, and plans for incident response. The global gold standard for nuclear regulation, the NRC is collaborating with interagency partners to implement reforms outlined in new Executive Orders and the ADVANCE Act to streamline agency activities and enhance efficiency.
No: 26-011 January 27, 2026 CONTACT: Ivonne Couret, 301-415-8200 Registration Open for NRCs 38th Annual Regulatory Information Conference Registration is now open for the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions 38th annual Regulatory Information Conference, to be held March 10-12 in North Bethesda, Maryland, and online. This years conference will highlight opportunities ahead for nuclear energy and technology, bringing together regulators, industry leaders and stakeholders to explore regulation, innovation and collaboration that enable the safe and secure use and deployment of civilian nuclear energy technologies and radioactive materials.
Several thousand participants from the United States and around the world are expected for the three-day hybrid event. The conference will open with an address from NRC Chairman Ho K. Nieh, who will outline his vision and priorities for the agency.
The NRCs Regulatory Information Conference brings together regulators, industry, and the public to share insights, challenge assumptions, and explore opportunities for ensuring safety in new ways, Nieh said. In a time of extraordinary change in energy and technology, the conversations we have today will shape the regulatory landscape of tomorrow. I encourage all interested parties to attend and participate in the discussions that will inform how we carry out our safety mission.
Additional program highlights include plenary sessions with NRC Commissioners David A. Wright, Bradley R. Crowell, Matthew J. Marzano and Douglas W. Weaver. The plenary sessions also will include remarks from NRC Executive Director for Operations Mike King.
