SUBJECT:
LETTER NOMINATING NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF TO THE AMERICAN NUCLEAR SOCIETY STANDARD COMMITTEE WORKING GROUP FOR ANS-15.11
Dear Dr. Hauck,
I would like to nominate Mr. Jared Nadel as an authorized U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) representative and voting member to the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Standards Committee for ANS-15.11 Radiation Protection at Research Reactor Facilities. Mr. Nadel will be replacing Mr. Craig Bassett and joining Mr. Andrew Miller in this working group. Mr. Nadel has been with the NRC for 22 years and brings the necessary expertise and experience to support the development of these standards. He has worked as a commercial nuclear reactor inspector for over 20 years and was the onsite resident and senior resident inspector at multiple facilities over 16 years. Mr. Nadel was also a licensed reactor operator at the North Carolina State University PULSTAR research reactor for four years prior to joining the NRC. He holds bachelor's degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Physics.
In accordance with the Office of Management and Budget Circular No. A-119, "Federal Participation in the Development and Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards and in Conformity Assessment Activities," dated January 27, 2016, the participation on a committee of an NRC-authorized representative does not connote agency agreement with, or endorsement of, decisions reached by the committee, or of standards approved and published as a result of the committees efforts. Agency representatives participating in consensus standards developing groups will, to the extent possible, ascertain the views of the agency on matters of interest and will express views that are consistent with established agency views.
However, the NRCs endorsement of these standards, if desired by the NRC, would be part of a separate activity such as incorporation by reference into rulemaking or endorsement in an NRC regulatory guide.
Correspondence to the nominated individuals should be addressed to:
