The NRC staff working on the review of the LMGS PSAR sections on structural engineering would like to request a focused audit meeting to discuss a set of questions from the Chapter 2 and Civil Structures audit. I forgot to ask a quick clarification question in todays audit meeting. In Revision 1 of the crosswalk document for the Chapter 2 supplements, the column that details the Anticipated NRC Submittal Date indicates that the information for the subsections on 2.5 will be (or was supposed to be) submitted on 12/10/2025. Will the supplement be submitted this week, or is LME still working towards the previous target date of December 20th?

As discussed previously, the NRC staff would like to request a focused audit meeting to discuss selected topics within PSAR Section 2.4, Hydrology. Please see the information below which provides more details on the purpose and scope for this audit interaction.

The following dates are available for the NRC staff to support this focused audit. Please let me know the LME team will be able to support any of these proposed dates; otherwise, we can discuss to find an alternate date.

Thursday, December 4th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, or Tuesday, December 9th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Purpose The purpose of the audit meeting would be to ensure a common understanding of:

  • LMEs safety basis for LMGS DBHLs
  • The information in the CP application, as submitted, that demonstrates this safety basis and addresses regulatory requirements
  • Any gaps identified by LME in the initial CP application, considering the data, methodology, and results necessary to support the staffs safety findings
  • How the supplement addresses those gaps

Scope The scope of the audit meeting would be limited to the following PSAR subsections.

An initial list of items of interest for each section will be provided by COB Tuesday to support the discussion.

  • 2.4.2.3 Local Intense Precipitation
  • 2.4.3 Probable Maximum Flood on Streams and Rivers
  • 2.4.4 Potential Dam Failures
  • 2.4.5 Probable Maximum Surge and Seiche Flooding
  • 2.4.6 Tsunami Hazard
  • 2.4.10 Flood Protection Requirements

Supporting Information Please provide the following in the eRR prior to the audit discussion:

  • Calculation reports that support the analyses in the sections above
  • Contour map of area surrounding LMGS site
  • Inundation maps for each flooding mechanism

The NRC staff reviewing the topical report on Plume Exposure Pathway Emergency Planning Zone Sizing Methodology determined the need for an additional set of audit questions based on the most recent markup version of the TR. The staff would like to discuss these questions with X Energy within the scope of the scope of the regulatory audit for the review of this topical report (ML25086A253).

The document containing Batch No. 4 of audit questions has been uploaded in NRC Box, under the Xe-100 Plume Exposure Pathway EPZ TR folder.
