In accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a, "Codes and standards," paragraph (g)(4)(iv), and the guidance provided in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulatory Issue Summary (RIS) 2004-12, "Clarification on Use of Later Editions and Addenda to the ASME OM Code and Section XI," Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) hereby requests NRC approval to use the provisions of a later edition of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Code,Section XI, incorporated by reference in 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(1)(ii), for Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2.
Specifically, SNC requests approval to use the 2019 Edition of the ASME B&PV Code,Section XI, in its entirety for inservice inspection (ISI).
The enclosure to this letter provides details of the request.
SNC respectfully requests approval by July 1, 2026.

Farley Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 (FNP), and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2 (VEGP 1&2). Specifically, SNC requests approval to use the 2019 Edition of the ASME B&PV Code,Section XI, in its entirety for inservice inspection (ISI) requirements.
- 1. Components Affected Class 1, 2, and 3 components included in the ASME Section XI ISI Programs at FNP and VEGP 1&2.
- 2. Requested Date for Approval Approval is requested by July 1, 2026.
3. Applicable Code Edition and Addenda
The current applicable ASME Section XI Code of Record for each plant's ISI interval is shown in Table 1.

- 4. Proposed Subsequent Code Edition and Addenda (or Portion)
The current ISI Program Code of Record at FNP and VEGP 1&2 is the 2007 Edition with 2008 Addenda of ASME Section XI.
SNC requests NRC approval to use the 2019 Edition of the ASME B&PV Code,Section XI, in its entirety for ISI requirements. This request is made in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a paragraph (g)(4)(iv), which permits the use of subsequent editions and addenda that are incorporated by reference in 10 CFR 50.55a, subject to NRC approval. The 2019 Edition is incorporated by reference in 10 CFR 50.55a (Reference 2).

- 5. Related Requirements 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(4)(iv) states, in part:
Inservice examination of components and system pressure tests may meet the requirements set forth in subsequent editions and addenda that are incorporated by reference in paragraph (a) of this section, subject to the conditions listed in paragraph (b) of this section, and subject to Commission approval. Portions of editions or addenda may be used, provided that all related requirements of the respective editions or addenda are met.
SNC is requesting to use the 2019 Edition of the ASME Section XI Code in its entirety for ISI.
6. Duration of Proposed Alternative
Use of the 2019 Edition of the ASME Code,Section XI, in its entirety for ISI would remain in effect for the remainder of the current ISI Intervals at FNP and VEGP 1&2, as identified in Section 3 of this enclosure.
