EHS External Letterhead.SNMTransportCommit-Draft Comments by NRC-12-5-24.docx Hello Aaron:

Thank you again for showing me around and going through the motions of moving SNM around PSU. It was a pleasure and thank you for the kind words. I went through the attached draft and provided some comments to consider. This is a very unique case where Cat III SNM maybe transported around campus on public roads, as well as < Cat III SNM; the distance between the Steam Service Building, where PSU receives SNM and then ships it out to 2 labs in general is around 1 mile.

If you have any questions next week, you can give me a call on either Wed or Thurs (those are best days due to meetings earlier in the week).

Happy Holidays Aaron!

Alex

PS: Suzanne, I included you for awareness since PSU may receive samples that are < 1 g SNM or

> 1 g SNM up though Cat III SNM and we discussed reporting requirements under 10 CFR 74.15.

[External_Sender] Penn State Draft Commitment Letter (SNM-95, transport)

Hi Alex,

I hope youre well and had an pleasant Thanksgiving break.

It was enjoyable meeting you in person a few weeks ago, and the follow-up Teams call you scheduled was very helpful also.

Its possible I misinterpreted something we spoke about, but I took away from our meeting that you might be willing to take a look at the draft follow-up letter that Penn State committed to provide. A draft of this letter is attached. I thought it might be preferable to share the draft with you now, that way if theres anything additional that should be added, or anything that should be modified, it might be easier to do this before the letter is finalized and sent. If I misinterpreted anything, please let me know and I could certainly formalize this and send it through Steve if that

would be preferred.

Id also be happy to talk about this by phone or Teams, if that would be preferred.

Appreciate your help and input on this amendment project, Aaron Wilmot Mgr, Radiation Protection & University RSO (814) 863-3976
