SUBJECT:
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL ROUTE APPLICATION DETERMINATION (U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ROUTE NO. 192C), DOCKET NUMBER: 070-07011
Dear Mr. Hunt:
On January 12, 2026, Secured Transportation Services (STS) submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), for approval of a route for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) shipments of spent nuclear fuel (SNF), in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 73.37(b)(1)(vi).
The NRC staff has determined that the shipment(s) of SNF are not subject to NRC regulatory requirements. Accordingly, this letter does not constitute NRC approval of the route. Based on the NRC staffs detailed review of your route application the NRC has determined that the proposed route is consistent with all applicable NRC regulatory requirements in 10 CFR 73.37(b)(1)(vi). The NRC has designated the route as Truck Route No. 192C.
