OF CLOSED PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING FOR WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY TOPICAL REPORT WCAP-19027, INCREASE OF FUEL ROD AVERAGE BURNUP LIMIT FOR WESTINGHOUSE FUEL DESIGNS (EPID: L-2025-LRM-0130)
On January 14, 2026, a closed virtual pre-submittal meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), Division of Operating Reactor Licensing (DORL) and Division of Safety Systems staff, and Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) representatives. The purpose of the meeting was for Westinghouse representatives to present proprietary information related to the future submittal of Westinghouse Topical Report (TR) WCAP-19027, Increase of Fuel Rod Average Burnup Limit for Westinghouse Fuel Designs (Proprietary/Non-Proprietary). The Westinghouse representatives provided an overview of the TR, three-dimensional (3D) analysis of power distributions, consideration of fuel dispersal for transient and loss-of-coolant accident analysis, Westinghouse fuel criteria evaluation process, and fuel rod annular blankets. The Westinghouse representatives also provided updates on transient analysis codes and methods (RAVE' Methodology), and 3D rod ejection. The Westinghouse representatives concluded the presentation with an overview of the ADOPT' fuel pellet dopant effects and TRs timeline. No regulatory decisions were made during the meeting.
By letter dated January 20, 2026, Westinghouse submitted presentation slides to the NRC (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML26020A276). The meeting notice was issued on December 22, 2025 (ML25356A368).
