Clarification Request for Palisades RR 5-11 Date:

High Hi Kami,
Hope you are staying safe and warm this week! I am so sorry, I was cleaning up emails on the snow day and realized I never finished sending you the below regarding our conversation on RR 5-11, so I am correcting that now!
Per our conversation on January 15th, the staff is in need of two clarifying pieces of information to complete their review of Palisades RR 5-11. This information will need to be submitted on the docket, but a simple/short clarification letter is all we should need. Here are the items that need to be addressed:
- 1. In the initial version of the relief request (ML25232A168 from 8/20) the request references ASME Code Case N-770, Version 7 (N-770-7). However, the RAI response and the supplement (ML25353A329 from 12/19 and ML25364A158 from 12/30) reference Version 5 of Code Case N-770 (N-770-7). Please clarify which version of the code case Palisades Energy intends to implement at Palisades.
- 2. The NRC staff understands that the discussion of the inservice examination plans for the Primary Coolant System Piping Branch Connection Modifications was largely removed from the supplement to RR 5-11 and will be addressed in a later submittal.
However the staff would like to confirm whether the licensee intends to continue using ASME Code Case N-853-1 during this interim period, or whether some other program or protocol is being followed.
This information is necessary to ensure that the staff is making accurate statements in the evaluation documenting the review of the relief request. If you would be able to provide this information as your earliest convenience, it will help us complete the review of Palisades RR 5-11.
