SUMMARY
OF THE JANUARY 9, 2026, PUBLIC MEETING WITH GE VERNOVA HITACHI TO DISCUSS THE APPLICATION OF SECY 25-0074 TO BWRX-300 EXPEDITED CONSTRUCTION AND MANUFACTURING OF CERTAIN STRUCTURES, SYSTEMS, AND COMPONENTS (PROJECT NO. 99900003)
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a partially closed public meeting on January 9, 2026, where representatives from GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH) presented a proposed framework for expedited construction and manufacturing activities that will be allowed prior to the issuance of a construction permit (CP). Portions of the meeting were closed to discuss proprietary information. The GVH presentation can be found at the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML26006A228.
The purpose of the presentation was to obtain regulatory feedback on the interpretation of SECY 25-0074, Expedited Construction of Certain Structures, Systems, and Components, (ML25157A119) for BWRX-300 construction and to determine whether a Licensing Topical Report (LTR) would be the appropriate vehicle to present GVHs methodology and align on proposed construction and manufacturing activities. No regulatory decisions were discussed or made at this meeting.
