ANeuhausen Meeting Summary:

On January 22, 2026, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted a public meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ADAMS Accession No. ML21180A271) with TEUSA to discuss areas relevant to the topical report (TR) Strategy for Establishing Defense in Depth for IMSR Structures, Systems and Components, Revision A (ML25322A302). The objective of the meeting was to provide high-level feedback to support TEUSA in determining potential next steps associated with this TR.

During the meeting, the NRC staff and TEUSA discussed feedback (ML26020A280) that the staff made public in advance of the meeting. TEUSA asked questions and the staff provided examples to clarify specific feedback items. Additionally, the staff discussed factors for TEUSA to consider in evaluating whether a white paper may provide advantages over a TR based on the feedback provided.

Next Steps:

TEUSA will evaluate the NRC staffs feedback internally and determine the approach it intends to take for the TR and will communicate its decision to the NRC staff.

No regulatory decisions were made during or as a result of this meeting.
