Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 3 and 4 - License Amendment Request to Implement 10 CFR 50.69 Date:

Thursday, January 29, 2026 9:02:00 AM

Dear Maribel Valdez,

By application dated June 30, 2025 (ML25182A034), Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) submitted a license amendment request for Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 3 and4 (Turkey Point). The proposed amendments would allow the licensee to implement Title 10of the Code of Federal Regulations (10CFR) Section 50.69, Risk-informed categorization and treatment of structures, systems and components for nuclear power reactors, at Turkey Point. By email dated July 29, 2025 (ML25211A341), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff informed FPL that the NRC had accepted the application for review and that it expected the review to be completed by April 3, 2026.

The purpose of this email is to inform FPL that the NRC staffs review of the June 30, 2025, license amendment request is now expected to be completed by May1, 2026. There are two reasons for this change. First, the Federal Government was shut down from October 1 through November 12, 2025, which delayed the start of the NRC staffs audit that was scheduled to begin in early October (ML25262A105). Second, FPL has delayed its response to an audit question that the NRC staff asked on December 16, 2025, until February 20, 2026.

Sincerely,

Blake Purnell, Senior Project Manager Plant Licensing Branch II-2 Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ph: 301-415-1380
