APS Release 1.2.0 New Features & Enhancements 1.
ADAMS Public Search API: We have launched a new API tool to facilitate programmatic access to ADAMS publicly available documents.
2.
Negative Search Operators: You can now exclude specific terms from your search results using negative operators such as Does Not Contain, Does Not Equal.
3.
Enhanced Document Properties: The "PackagesFiledIn" field is now visible within Document Properties, allowing users to see the package a document belongs to.
4.
Timestamp Search: Advanced Search now includes the capability to search by specific timestamps, allowing for more granular chronological filtering.
5.
Date Added Timestamps: Search results now display "Date Added with timestamp for better tracking of newly added documents.
6.
Time zone: The timestamp on Date fields is displayed in Eastern Standard Time (EST) instead of GMT 7.
Single Character Token Matching: Improved search indexing now supports matching for single-character tokens, increasing the accuracy of short-string queries.
8.
Estimated Page Count: A new property for "Estimated Page Count" has been added to both Column selection and Reporting options.
Bug Fixes 1.
Search Parity: Fixed a discrepancy where certain queries (e.g., MATPRO) returned fewer results in APS compared to WBA.
2.
Exact Title Matching: Resolved an issue where the "Equals" operator search for titles (e.g., "Fire Safety Analysis") was not returning exact matches.

Feedback or Question NRC Response

APS and ADAMS do not return the same results. A search for title containing MATPRO returns 13 results under ADAMS but only 11 from APS.
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025 7.
Clicking the link for a document's properties reverts website to the top of the page, making users navigate back to the document they were looking at. This is very annoying and inefficient.
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025 8.
The document package is not always included in a document's properties (for example, package ML25063A248 contains two documents, but the package is not listed in the properties of either document).
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025 9.
In APS, the properties available for me to view do not include the parent document information. Can this please be added?
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025 APS Public User Feedback/Queries
Feedback or Question NRC Response 10.
Unable to find SECY-18-0058 (ML16264A002) when searched "SECY" as keywords. I also can't find it when I search "SECY-18-0058". Even searching all the records with the keyword as empty, the report I downloaded still does not have this file. Only when I typed in "ML16264A002", it shows up.
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025.
- 11.
Suggest that we change Keyword(s) on the Search Criteria page to Search terms to distinguish between these two different things.
Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025.
- 12.
Documents mismatch between WBA and APS for a given Date Added Fixed as part of release 1.2.0 deployed in Dec 2025.
13.
I often search by date added. I set my sort order and items per screen. If I edit the search (like to view documents added on a different date), I have to reset my sort order and items per screen. It would be helpful if those settings did not reset when editing a search.
This request has been added to the backlog for review APS Public User Feedback/Queries
Feedback or Question NRC Response
- 14.
When attempting to download a recently published document, users are encountering the error The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable Document available in WBA but not in APS ML25169A315 Currently there is a slight delay between the time an ML# appears in the index and its accessibility on NRC.gov/docs. While we are working to implement a permanent fix, an interim fix has been put in place. We request users to please wait for few minutes and try downloading a document. This message has been posted on APS home page as well.
15.
Any (OR) functionality in search may not appear to be working in APS Avoid using the search operator Contains when performing an OR search. Instead use Starts With or Equals for more accurate results.
During debugging, it was found that OR operator does not work when the Document Type contains a comma or hyphen. This issue has been logged in the backlog to be fixed in a future release 16.
Searching for X-Energy and sorting by Date Added reveals a number of documents (some of them quite old which predates the company) that do not contain the term X-Energy when I download the pdf and search for X-Energy.
Please use quotes when performing content search, on terms that include characters such as hyphen, in this case X-Energy. Also note that by default the search results are sorted by relevancy; however, if additional sorting criteria is selected then results will not be an exact match for the provided search terms.

ADAMS Public Search API (Application Programming Interface)
Timeline and Adoption:
The new API was released in the first quarter of FY 26 (Dec 5th, 2025).
We encourage users to provide feedback in coming months to be able to make any further improvements as necessary and feasible.
Decommissioning of Existing API:
The existing ADAMS (Public) API will remain available for a few months.
It will be decommissioned only after the new API has been actively adopted and used by the public community (tentatively end of FY2026 Q3 which is June 2026).
Additional APS releases will be planned based on priority of reported issues
Closing Remarks Please switch to ADAMS Public Search as soon as possible!!!
