- Steve, The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Region II staff will conduct a Criticality and Radiation Protection inspection at your facility during the week of February 2, 2026.
The inspection will focus on the core inspection procedures described in Inspection Manual Chapter 2600; and will use Inspection Procedures, 88015, Nuclear Criticality Safety, and 88030, Radiation Protection. The lead inspector is Nicholas Peterka. He will perform the Criticality review. Cynthia Taylor and Chad Oelstrom will review the Radiation Protection Program. Kelly Sullivan will accompany the inspection team as a trainee. Let me know if you anticipate any logistical challenges for this inspection.
Experience has shown that these inspections are resource intensive both for the NRC inspectors and your staff. In order to minimize the impact to your onsite resources and to conduct a productive inspection, I have attached a request for documents needed for this inspection. Please make these documents available to us electronically where possible and let me know if any of them need to be provided as hardcopies onsite. Please also let us know if any of us need to complete site access training or take other actions. If possible, an entrance meeting should be schedule for 1400 (EST) on Monday the 2nd, with an exit meeting at 1600 (EST) on Thursday the 5th. If there are any questions about this inspection or the material requested, particularly if you find the request unclear or unduly burdensome, please let us know.
