1 Docket No. 50-0614 Date: December 5, 2025 LME Response to NRC RAI No. WNR-1 NRC RAI Letter No. ML25307A005 Dated November 6, 2025.
Regulatory Basis:
Long Mott Energy submitted an Environmental Report (ER), ML25090A063, as part of its CP application in accordance with 10CFR Part51, Environmental Protection Regulations for Domestic Licensing and Related Regulatory Functions. The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) regulations at 10 CFR Part 51, which implement Section 102(2) of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, include requirements for applicants to provide information as may be useful in aiding the NRC sta in complying with NEPA, and other federal consultation obligations such as Section 106 of the NHPA and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Air Act (CAA).
REQUIREMENT: 10 CFR 51.45(c) requires that the ER includes a description of the aected environment, contains sucient data to aid the Commission in its development of an independent analysis, and an analysis that considers and balances the environmental eects of the proposed action. Per NRC Regulatory Guide 4.2, this should include:
- A description of impacts to the land resulting from generation, handling and disposal of nonradioactive waste during building of the project. The description should include a general description of onsite waste expected to be generated, including types and approximate quantities.
RAI No: WNR-1 Please provide an estimate of the quantities of non-hazardous waste that will be generated during the construction of the LMGS.
2 LME Response:
During the construction phase, LME estimates that an average of 16 roll o containers (40-cubic yard capacity) of construction debris (concrete, brick/block, mortar, wood, etc) and 49 roll o containers (40-cubic yard capacity) of general oce waste would be shipped to an approved land"ll annually, averaging approximately two (2) roll o containers of waste shipped per week. It is assumed that metal is collected and recycled. Scrap metal does not meet the de"nition of a solid waste per 40 CFR 261.4(a)(13);
therefore, it is not included in this estimate.
