NRC Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06, "Importance of Giving the NRC Advance Notice of Intent to Pursue License Renewal," Revision 1, ML24018A240, dated February 26, 2024, This letter provides advance notification that Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy), on behalf of itself and Entergy Arkansas, LLC, intends to submit subsequent license renewal applications for Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2 (ANO-1, ANO-2).
The first renewed Operating Licenses for ANO-1 and ANO-2 were issued on June 20, 2001, and June 30, 2005, and will expire at midnight on May 20, 2034, and July 17, 2038, respectively.
Entergy intends to submit separate applications for subsequent renewal of the ANO-1 and ANO-2 renewed Operating Licenses in accordance with 10 CFR Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," by the end of the fourth (4th) quarter of 2029 for ANO-1 and by the end of the fourth (4th) quarter 2033 for ANO-2.
This notification is consistent with NRC Regulatory Issue Summary (RIS) 2009-06, "Importance of Giving the NRC Advance Notice of Intent to Pursue License Renewal," Revision 1. As discussed in RIS 2009-006, Entergy will inform the NRC of any changes to the anticipated schedule for filing the subsequent license renewal applications for Arkansas Nuclear One to facilitate NRC efforts to plan for processing of the subsequent license renewal applications.
