FA2025-301 FACILITY COMMENT: The facility request to change one task standard of JPM f.

  • The current task standard is: Adjust PK-145 to achieve maximum flow without exceeding 135gpm.
  • The proposed new task standard is: Adjust PK-145 to initiate flow.
  • Basis: FNP-1-SOP-7.0, Residual Heat Removal System, Section 4.1 step 14.k states that if the cold shutdown boron concentration is not achieved then return to step g and repeat the boration procedure. Regardless of the amount of flow initiated, as long as flow was initiated, the operator could repeat the steps until the required concentration was achieved. Additionally, in this JPM, exceeding 135 gpm was not possible due to plant configuration.

ELEMENT Evaluation 1

NON Critical: Valve is not critical to the mechanical alignment necessary to borate the RHR system via Low Pressure letdown flow.

2 CRITICAL: Completes part of the assigned task by establishing a portion of the mechanical line up of LP letdown.

3 NON Critical: Step is N/A.

4 NON Critical: Procedure flow path step, directing operator to next section.

5 NON Critical: Securing the Zinc Addition System is not critical to the mechanical alignment necessary to borate the RHR system via Low Pressure letdown flow 6

CRITICAL: Isolates the Normal Letdown flow path so that flow may be obtained when Low Pressure letdown is aligned since operating pressure of normal letdown is greater than RHR pump discharge pressure.

7 NON Critical: These valves are not critical since normal letdown is isolated in the previous element.

8-9 NON Critical: Manually closing FK-122 is not critical to the mechanical alignment necessary to borate the RHR system via Low Pressure letdown flow.

10-11 NON Critical: Adjusting seal injection flow is not critical to the mechanical alignment necessary to borate the RHR system via Low Pressure letdown flow.

12 NON Critical: N/A step 13 NON Critical: Another operator is directed to perfrom and is not part of the task.

14 CRITICAL: Bypassing the demineralizers is critical to establishing the proper letdown flowpath to prevent diluting the demineralizer beds.
