RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-30 INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION UPDATED REGISTRATION OF DRY SPENT FUEL STORAGE CANISTERS Pursuant to 10 CFR 72.212(b)(4), Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri, herewith provides updated registration information for the dry spent fuel storage casks currently stored on the Callaway plant property under a 10 CFR Part 72 general license for the Callaway Plant Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI).
Callaway Plant currently has 42 multi-purpose canisters (MPCs) stored in the HI-STORM UMAX Canister Storage System. These canisters were placed into storage during loading campaigns in 2015 (6 MPCs), 2018 (12 MPCs), 2021 (12 MPCs), and 2024 (12 MPCs). These 42 canisters were registered pursuant to 10 CFR 72.212(b)(2) by individual letters (detailed in the attached table) under Certificate of Compliance No. 1040, Amendment 0, effective April 6, 2015.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has amended its spent fuel storage regulations by revising the Holtec International HI-STORM UMAX Canister Storage System listing within the List of approved spent fuel storage casks to include Revision 1 to Amendment Nos. 0 through 2 to Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 1040. Revision 1, effective April 21, 2025.
Callaway Plant is implementing Revision l to Amendment No. 0 of Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
No. 1040, which involves updating the basis for the dose rate limits for the closure lids and modifying the dose rate limit values and description of the locations of the dose rate measurements.
Implementation of Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 1040, Revision l to Amendment No. 0, has been completed as of the date of this letter.
