2 Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). SMR (Holtec) provided an overview of its approach to the SMR-300 structural modularity design.

During the open portion of the meeting, SMR (Holtec) provided a high-level overview of the SMR-300 design and general layout of buildings. SMR (Holtec) discussed its plans to submit a licensing topical report (LTR) on structural modularity by December 2025. The structural modularity LTR would cover the design requirements, analysis methods used, connections, fire performance, inspection and corrosion requirements, and testing methodologies and results.

At the end of the open portion of the meeting, members of the public were invited to provide comments or ask the NRC staff questions pertaining to the scope of the meeting. One commenter asked about the projected timeline for the SMR-300 application. The NRC staff responded that the limited work authorization application is expected to be received by January 2026, and the construction permit application is expected by mid-2027.
