Summary of Path Forward ADAMS ML25261A154 5

The staffs intent is to provide closure on the two technical topics that are the focus of this workshop by end of CY25. To support this goal, the staff plans to develop a publicly available document that will offer resolution and promote regulatory stability regarding the following issues:

- Equipment Qualification (EQ): Staff reaffirms that continued use of the TID-14844 source term, along with the Regulatory Guide 1.89 dose methodology, is an acceptable approach for conducting equipment qualification analyses for demonstrating compliance with the radiation effects provisions of 10 CFR 50.49.

- Aerosol Removal Rates: Staff will provide updated numerical aerosol removal rates by accident phase, which can be used as user-defined values in dose assessment software. Additionally, use of the Powers Model (NUREG-6189) remains an acceptable approach for modeling natural deposition when applying the methodology in SAND2023-01313.

6 ADAMS ML25261A154 Technical Topics for Discussion Equipment Qualification Problem Statement - Provide clarification on applicability of TID-14844-based EQ conclusions Aerosol Removal Rate Problem Statement - Develop updated decontamination coefficients for containments to be used in downstream dose codes Additional Topic - SCALE tool for fuel cycle inventory estimation
