Grundy and Will Counties Morris License Renewal, Dresden Nuclear Power Station, 6500 N. Dresden Rd.
- NRC, SHPO Log #012103124 September 17, 2025 Jennifer Davis United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission License Renewal and Environmental Impacts Programs Washington, DC 20555
Dear Ms. Davis:
Thank you for your submission of the final Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal for Dresden Nuclear Power Station at 6500 North Dresden Road in Morris (SHPO log # 012103124), which we received on 9/5/25. Our comments are required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, 54 U.S.C. § 306108, and its implementing regulations (36 CFR Part 800) (Act).
On 8/14/25, this office concurred with the NRC that Dresden Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 and its associated structures were eligible for listing to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as a Historic District.
Additionally, our staff have determined that no historic archaeological properties are known to exist within the project area. However, if any archaeological materials are encountered during construction, this office must be notified. This letter is not a clearance for purposes of the Illinois Human Remains Protection Act (20 ILCS 3440).
This undertaking will not adversely affect any historic properties.
If the projects scope of work changes from that which has been submitted to and approved by this office, you must email those changes to Anthony Rubano (Anthony.Rubano@Illinois.gov) for review and comment. Failure to submit project changes for review and comment may result in an adverse effect determination.
Sincerely, Carey L. Mayer, AIA Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer
