Denise Edwards brian.mann@excelservices.com Status of Petition for Rulemaking - PRM-50-126 Tuesday, September 16, 2025 2:23:00 PM Greetings Brian Mann, By letter dated September 13, 2024, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML24274A209), you submitted on behalf of the Technical Specifications Task Force, the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group, and the Boiling Water Reactor Owners Group, a petition for rulemaking requesting that the NRC revise 10 CFR50.36 to apply risk insights to the selection of technical specifications Limiting Conditions for Operation (LCO) and to update the regulation to be consistent with the guidance in the NRC's Standard Technical Specifications. The purpose of this email is to provide an update on the status of your petition.
On November 25, 2024, the NRC published in the Federal Register a notice of acceptance and docketing of PRM-50-126 and requested comments on the petition. The comment period closed on February 10, 2025, and the NRC received several comment submissions, which can be found at https://www.regulations.gov under Docket ID NRC-2024-0173. The NRC is evaluating your petition and the associated public comments. Once the NRC makes a determination on the petition, the NRC will notify you and publish a notice in the Federal Register explaining the Commissions decision.
You can also continue to monitor the docket for PRM50126 at https://www.regulations.gov.
