ry committee Management Officer GSA CONCURRENCE IN CONTINUATION OF LSS ADVISORY REVIEW PANEL For the past several months the Commission has had a continuing exchange of correspondence with the Office of Management and Budget concerning continuation of the charter for the LSS Advisory Review Panel.

In response to the Chairman's most recent letter to Mr. Philip Lader, on December 27, 1993, GSA has concurred on an extension of the Panel's charter to December 1994.

I was advised by phone that this response, a copy of which is attached, was discussed with Mr. William McQuaid at 0MB.

I was also advised that in light of the Panel's recently increased activity there may not be an additional problem obtaining GSA concurrence in a two-year renewal at the end of this one-year extension.

Notification of the extension will be placed in the Federal Register and a new charter will now be filed with the appropriate Congressional committees as required by the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

Dear Mr. Hoyle:

This letter confirms the Committee Management Secretariat's verbal response of January 21, 1994, to your correspondence of December 27, 1993 (addressed to Philip Lader, 0MB), proposing to renew the Licensing support System Advisory Review Panel (1104) for a period of eleven months.

The General Services Administration (GSA) has reviewed the consultation as provided by the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended, and the GSA Final Rule on Federal advisory committee management.

The panel meets the objectives identified by the agency and the requirements of the statute, including appropriate certifications of necessity, balance, lack of duplication, and other applicable information.

From this review, the panel appears to - be an effective way of obtaining the technical and program advice you seek.

Accordingly, GSA concurs in the renewal of this panel.

Should you need additional information or assistance, please contact Michael Neff at 632-1126.

Sincerely, j)r1
