Letter from TVA to NRC, Interim Report of a Deviation or Failure to Comply Associated with a Valve in the Unit 3 Diesel Generator Starting Air System, dated July 18, 2025 (ML25199A064)

In accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 21.21(a)(2), the Tennessee Valley Authority is submitting this report for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN).

On April 28, 2025, while performing work on BFN-3CKV-086-0500B, the BFN Unit 3 Right Bank Air Compressor Discharge Check Valve, it was discovered that the valve disc would not fit. Upon inspection of this new part, it was discovered that the metal had expanded at the base of the weld when it was manufactured. This issue was promptly entered into the BFN Corrective Action Program as Condition Report 2009343. On May 19, 2025, TVA completed its 10 CFR Part 21 discovery process and determined the need to perform a 10 CFR Part 21 Evaluation. This condition was determined to not be reportable under 10 CFR Part 21.

There are no new regulatory commitments contained in this letter. Should you have any questions concerning this submittal, please contact David Renn, Site Licensing Manager, at (256) 729-2636.

Respectfully, Daniel A. Komm Site Vice President
