Docket, Hearing
Subject:
[External_Sender] Reopening of Palisades Nuclear Plant Date:
Thursday, September 11, 2025 6:15:34 PM September 13, 2025 Direct submission of this Limited Appearance Statement was allowed by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board, Initial Prehearing Order (ASLBP No. 25-990-02-LA-BD01, Docket No.
50-225-LA-5, August 5, 2025)
(ML25217A517).
Case name and docket number:
Holtec Palisades, LLC (Palisades Nuclear Plant)
Docket No. 50-255-LA5 The purpose of this letter is to strongly object to the delayed upgrades and restarting of the Palisades Nuclear Plant by Holtec.
My husband and I own a home in the Palisades Park community, with many other residents and owners, directly next to the power plant. The delay in upgrades, restarting this plant and the reopening and operation of this closed nuclear power plant has huge risks to our family, neighbors, community and Lake Michigan.
We have owned our property since 1980 and were being told at the time we bought it that this older plant would be closed soon. 1980!! Here we are in 2025. When the plant finally closed down, we understood that it was closed for good.
We respectively request that you consider the restart, loading of fuel, fire protection and all the possible dangers of this older plant starting up again. Peoples lives, health, risk to residents and environmental impact cannot be underestimated.
