Docket, Hearing
Subject:
[External_Sender] Docket No 50-255-LA5 Date:
Thursday, September 11, 2025 5:42:17 AM Office of the Secretary Attn: Rulemakings and Adjudications Staff, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555-0001.
I have lived less than 1 mile from the Holtec nuclear power plant in Covert MI, since 1968.
I am concerned about the haste with which this plant is being brought back online. It see safety exceptions granted to hurry this along. I see patching of steam tubes with significant doubt expressed as to the safety of such action. I see Holtec - a decommissioning company - learning to become an operator through a project that has never been done before by anyone with experience or otherwise.
I see the waiver of Fire Protection Safety Upgrades established for all nuclear industryplants.
I am requesting that the NRC exercise the full extent of their charter to be sure this plant is top-tier safety for the protection & safety of life of the surrounding public citizens.
