Thank you: The Cherokee Nation - Information Technology Department Greetings Dr. Toombs,

Please see the attached letter to Principal Chief Hoskin, Jr., that requests initiation of consultation

under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The attached letter and maps were put in the mail for hard copy delivery on Friday, August 15, 2025.

This consultation request is for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) review of a construction permit application for four small modular advanced nuclear reactors at the Long Mott Generating Station in Calhoun County, Texas, on the site of the Dow Chemical Company. The attached letter contains detailed information about the project, hyperlinks to project documents (including archaeological and architectural survey reports), and an overview of the Section 106 consultation schedule.

I also wanted to point out that the applicant has already had some interactions on this project with the Texas Historical Commission (THC). On page 1.4-26 (PDF page 76) of the applicants environmental report is a letter from the THC to the applicant concurring on the results of their archaeological and architectural surveys (reports begin on PDF page 57). The NRC has only just initiated consultation with the THC, so we do not yet have any consultation correspondence from them. However, as soon as we receive any consultation correspondence from the THC, I will send to you for your awareness.

Please reach out to me via email or by phone if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to schedule a meeting to discuss the project further. The project archaeologist and I are happy to meet with you at your convenience.

Thank you,
