Subject:
Request for Temporary Air Sampling License Condition -Amendment
Dear Sir/Madam:
In the aftermath of the recent 2024 weather event, certain off-site air sampling locations were destroyed and commercial power was lost to the area. At that time, the Agency issued license condition S-10 to support continued environmental monitoring efforts during flood recovery. NFS requests the temporary license condition be amended as follows due to continued ongoing recovery efforts in the area.
Notwithstanding the requirements in Chapter 9 of the SNM-124 license application, NFS shall implement compensatory measures for air sample locations that were destroyed in the 2024 weather event. In accordance with Chapter 9 of the license application, NFS has documented this condition in the Corrective Action Program.
This condition shall remain in effect until October 1, 2026 or until such time commercial power and public vehicle access is restored near the original sample locations.
As described in Reference 2, the subject air sample locations are "in addition to" those required to maintain full compliance with the requirements in 10 CFR Part 20. This request does not reduce the effectiveness of the NFS effluent monitoring program as all NRG required on-site sampling remains in operation.
