Submission of SARP 3979A modification to include additional nuclides To Whom it may concern.
We have previously communicated with a Berni White, however emails to his address now bounce.
Please accept this transmission letter as a formal request to update the certificate of approval, USA/9337/B(U), to include additional radionuclides.
Enclosed with this letter are the updated SARP LS-3979A (Rev 9) chapter changes, mainly addressing our intention of including additional radionuclides for insert #3983. This impacts Section 1, PCS 036 and Section 5 of the SARP and includes a new monte carlo shielding assessment for the #3983 insert, Cerberus report C.02086-CROFT-PACK-B02-C01-I1 (Croft reference ETR 566).
However, we have also:
- combined the SARP sections into one document and incorporated some minor clarifications and corrections
- added some justification demonstrating compliance with the IAEA SSR-6 2018 regulations
- added an alternative production method for the lead shielding (machined form solid rather than casting), and
- added an alternative CV bolting material (L7, as discussed in Section 2.1.1 of the SARP).
The attached documents are those that specifically address these revisions and the changes and impact on the SARP are documented in a revision history report, CTR 2025/04, which is also attached.
