RESPONSE TO COMMENTS ON DIRECTORS DECISION DD-25-01 REGARDING SEISMIC CORE DAMAGE FREQUENCY FOR DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Diane Curran and Dr. Peter Bird:
I am responding to your letter dated July 31, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML25217A448), in which you provided comments on the directors decision DD-25-01, dated June 26, 2025 (ML25160A125), regarding seismic core damage frequency for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2. You provided these comments on behalf of San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace, Friends of the Earth, and Environmental Working Group. In accordance with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) Management Directive 8.11, Review Process for 10 CFR 2.206 Petitions (ML18296A043), section V.G.8 of the handbook, the petition review board has reviewed the comments and determined that the comments do not provide new information beyond that considered in the preparation of DD-25-01. Therefore, DD-25-01 will not be revised and the comments will not be treated as a new petition.
