RE: RE: [EXTERNAL] St Lucie Manatee Entrapment History of Take

Hi Lindsay,

Are you okay with my dates? I have a rationale listed below for the discrepancies. I believe we are discussing the same events,

Feb 1991: We have this capture in February. We know this manatee took 32 days to remove from the intake as described in the St Lucie County Manatee Protection Plan.. which is how you may have arrived to the April date. The February date was also reported in the 2003 St Lucie County Manatee Protection Plan as required by the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act.

Aug 1991: We have this as 8/31/1991 with it being onsite for 3 days before removal which would arrive to your September date.

Nov 2008: We have this as 11/28/2008 with it being onsite for 3 days before removal which would lead us to your December date.

Are you okay with these dates given these rationales? Thanks.

Best, Mitchell

[External_Sender] RE: [EXTERNAL] St Lucie Manatee Entrapment History of Take

My dates are similar but not the same for every manatee. I highlighted in yellow the places I have different dates.

February 1991 (I have April 1991) Entrapment Alive 566 kg (1248 lbs.), 310 cm (10.2 ft) female which was in good condition.

August 1991 (I have Sept 1991) Entrapment Alive 367 kg (809 lbs.), 260 cm (8.5 ft) female which had traumatic lacerations.

December 1995 Entrapment Alive 109 kg (240 lbs.), 180 cm (5.9 ft) female with multiple abrasions, cold stress, and trauma.

September 1996 Entrapment Alive 431 kg (950 lbs.), 297 cm (9.7 ft) female which was released into Big Mud Creek.

December 1997 Entrapment Alive 205 kg (lb), 240 cm (7.9 ft) male which was healthy and released.

May 2003 Entrapment Alive 278 cm (9.1 ft) male which was moved to open water and released.

June 2006 Entrapment Alive 212 cm (6.9 ft) male which was moved and released.

December 2006 Entrapment Alive 280 cm (9.2 ft) male which was moved and released.

January 2008 Entrapment Alive 235 cm (7.7 ft) male with minor scratches which was moved and released.

November 2008 ( I have December 2008) Entrapment Alive 238 cm (7.8 ft) female which was moved and released January 2010 Entrapment Alive (at capture) 169 kg (373 lbs.) 201 cm (6.6 ft) female with a scraped body. Manatee died in transit to rehab center. Necropsy report inconclusive whether mortality was incidental or a result of the 2010 Florida cold weather event (ML25219A083).
